While Tunisia has long served as a regional model of women’s rights, actual implementation of the Constitution’s provisions on women’s rights and the eradication of all forms of gender-based violence (GBV) remains a challenge. Women’s organizations and the Ministry of Women, Family and Childhood (MoWFC) have highlighted the limited capacity to provide effective services (such as women’s shelters), and the lack of a comprehensive legislative reform agenda on gender-based violence (GBV), women’s rights and gender equality. IDLO is working to support the Tunisian MoWFC in implementing the provisions of the Constitution.
