A small lower-middle income economy, Moldova has made significant progress in reducing poverty and promoting inclusive growth since the early 2000s. While European integration has anchored the Government’s policy reform agenda, many reforms have yet to materialize and economic challenges remain.
In partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, IDLO is implementing a project that aims to promote and facilitate the use of arbitration and commercial mediation on a national scale, with the goal of mainstreaming alternative dispute resolution methods for business in the country. Under the project, IDLO will assess the use and implementation of commercial mediation in Moldova, including existing legislation. Through training and mediation simulation, IDLO will work to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Ministry of Justice and other relevant institutions, including civil society organizations, and will develop a communications strategy to strengthen advocacy around alternative dispute resolution.
