This sub-project enhanced access to justice among adolescent girls and young women by strengthening response mechanisms, linkages and collaborations between formal and informal justice systems in the targeted districts of Tororo, Butaleja, and Busia in Uganda. The Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Alliance worked toward enhancing and addressing gaps in awareness, reporting, case management, legal aid, and linkage to related services required by sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) survivors among adolescents’ girls and young women in the target districts. In order to achieve its objectives, the SRHR Alliance identified SGBV Community Response Agents (peers to SGBV survivors and stakeholders who are identified ass first point of contact for SGBV response) and equipped them with knowledge and skills to respond to SGBV cases. In cooperation with local government and technical leaders, SRHR Alliance also provided support to and participated in SGBV response initiatives and worked with women/girl-led organizations and young women leaders to develop their capacity to support and champion access to justice.
