This sub-project aims to improve women’s and girls’ access to legal and judicial services in the context of gender-based violence (GBV) in the Central Region of Burkina Faso. In order to raise awareness on GBV and facilitate the use of available legal and judicial services by the community, the Association d'Appui et d'Eveil Pugsada (ADEP) is hosting a series of educational discussions and conferences on human rights, GBV and related prevention and remedial measures, including legal protection for GBV survivors; broadcasting a radio programme on the above topics, and a second programme with a focus on the rights of GBV survivors. ADEP is also producing and distributing GBV-themed t-shirts and posters among the population. Furthermore, ADEP is delivering a series of training sessions to community leaders, civil society organizations, and prison and judicial police officers on women’s rights, GBV, and legal and judicial remedies. Finally, to improve access to legal and judicial assistance for GBV survivors, ADEP is establishing - and ensuring functional support to - a legal and judicial assistance committee in Ouagadougou composed of seven (7) key institutional actors selected among the trained beneficiaries.
