Fundamental Rights Forum 2021 - Youth Championing a Corruption-Free Europe and Eastern-Southern Neighbourhood: A Dialogue on Opportunities to Co-produce Justice, Rule of Law and Accountability

Corruption is widely recognized as a threat to global peace and security. When corruption becomes entrenched, it deprives citizens of meaningful access to essential services and the institutions that provide them, undermining sustainable development and fostering mistrust.

Worldwide, youth are at the forefront of campaigns to counter corruption. However, youth-led actions and movements are not always integrated into broader reforms aimed at strengthening access to justice, the rule of law, and accountability. This risks reducing the effectiveness of both the movements and reforms.

This online event hosted by the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) and the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe as part of the Fundamental Rights Forum 2021, will explore opportunities to overcome that disconnect and more effectively link youth-led anti-corruption efforts to institutional reforms in ways that strengthen and sustain the effectiveness of reforms and promote a people-centered approach to the rule of law.
