Under the framework of the Global Regulatory and Fiscal Capacity Building Programme (Global RECAP), this sub-project aims to contribute to an enabling legal and policy environment for the adoption of regulatory and fiscal measures that promote healthy diets for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) reduction in Tanzania. Building on the results of previous programming, the Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA), in collaboration with the Tanzania NCDs Alliance (TANCDA), is fostering advocacy and collaboration among key stakeholders at the country-level, including by strengthening and expanding existing coordination mechanisms that bring together stakeholders engaged in food policy, nutrition and NCD prevention in Tanzania. In parallel, TAWLA and TANCDA are supporting and advocating for amendments to national public health legislation to incorporate regulatory and fiscal measures for NCD prevention. Finally, the implementing partners are engaging with newly elected members of Parliament in this process to build political will and ensure that these measures are prioritized.
