This sub-project sought to facilitate and act as catalyst for national and international collaboration among lawyers, policy makers, researchers, civil society actors and communities to create a supportive regulatory and fiscal environment that promotes healthy diets and physical activity. In order to enhance engagement and coordination among local stakeholders in advocacy for regulatory reforms on healthy diets and physical activity, the Tanzania NCD Alliance (TANCDA) developed an advocacy and communication strategy, including a set of policy briefs on regulatory and fiscal measures to address NCDs to be disseminated at multi-stakeholder advocacy meetings with policy makers. Furthermore, TANCDA disseminated IEC materials through the media, and held a series of local and regional meetings based on participatory and human rights approaches with civil society organizations, media, academia and the local community to sensitize the participants on the role of the law to address NCDs.
