New software for automated distribution of civil, economic and administrative cases is being tested by the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic, aimed at simplifying case assignment among judges, reducing corruption and facilitating fairer, more efficient case handling.
It has been said that one of the greatest barriers to women’s access to justice is lack of female representation in courts, parliaments, international tribunals and other decision-making bodies, both nationally and internationally. Despite promising efforts to create gender-responsive and diverse justice systems, women remain underrepresented worldwide.
To strengthen public outreach in Afghanistan and increase legal awareness throughout the country, the Afghanistan Independent Bar Association (AIBA) launched its Communications Strategy 2017 – 2020, developed with IDLO technical support, on Monday, 6 November in Kabul.
Indonesia is home to half of the earth’s tropical peat lands, which cover 11 per cent of the country’s land area. Composed of partially decayed vegetation or organic matter, peat lands in Indonesia are highly biodiverse and store 60 billion of the world’s 88.6 billion metric tons of carbon held in tropical peat.
IDLO and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) hosted a three-day Judicial Conference on Insolvency Matters in Croatia from 25 to 27 October, in partnership with the Croatian Judicial Training Academy and High Commercial Court of Croatia.
