Pursuing justice internationally and locally - Justice Day 2017

25 Jul 2017

July 17, 2017 marked International Justice Day, and the anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statue which founded the International Criminal Court. The international criminal justice system seeks to ensure that quality justice is delivered in a fair and effective manner, and that international standards are applied at the local level for serious offenses. While these efforts can lend support for the action against major crimes and human rights violations, local institutions need to be able to deliver quality justice for victims as they seek redress.

IDLO’s Director of Research and Learning, Dr. Ilaria Bottigliero, discusses what can be done at the international and local levels to ensure justice for victims of major crimes is realized.
