IDLO’s Director General, Irene Khan, will be speaking about ‘The Power of SDGs to Achieve Prosperity for All’ at a side event, during the UN General Assembly, co-hosted by the Global Action Platform, IDLO and other partners.
The 2016 Global Action Leadership Forum at the United Nations will explore ‘scalable, sustainable solutions for abundant food, health and prosperity (SDG 1-3)’ and promote discussions to make the SDGs real.
Launching at the event is the Global Action Report, which documents proceedings from the annual Global Action Summit and provides summaries of ideas and recommendations for action.
The Forum will be led by experts and leaders working with Global Action Platform; the audience will consist of investors, executives, representatives of NGOs and government officials with expertise and interest in food, health, economic development in rural and urban settings.
Thomas Gass, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Mario de Leon Jr, Consul General of the Philippines, will open the event. Other speakers include Scott T Massey from Global Action Platform, Jon Clifton - Gallup, Trevor Davies - KPMG, Regina Lopez – the Philippines’ government, Ryan Doyle – oneC1TY-Nashville, and Tom Stiles – KPMG.

Due to heightened security in conjunction with the UN General Assembly, access to the area around the UN Headquarters will be granted only to holders of valid UN grounds passes.
To collect passes and ensure adequate time to clear security, confirmed participants are asked to arrive at the southeast corner of 46th Street and 2nd Avenue between 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm. Please look out for people holding a sign for IDLO.
IDLO’s staff will be standing outside the UN premises handing passes and escorting participants to Conference Room 12. Kindly be advised that passes can no longer be collected on Thursday, September 22nd.
